I haven't seen the movie, but the premise does seem questionable. As the New Yorker review describes the setup, "Messed up white people depend on pious, soulful black people to make them whole again. [The director's] inversion of long-discredited stereotypes smacks unintentionally of nostalgia for faithful servants."
