Fail

Holy cow, the original Starbuck (from the first Battlestar Galactica) is a dick!
Women are from Venus. Men are from Mars. Hamlet does not scan as Hamletta. Nor does Hans Solo as Hans Sally. Faceman is not the same as Facewoman. Nor does a Stardoe a Starbuck make. Men hand out cigars. Women “hand out” babies. And thus the world for thousands of years has gone’ round.

  1. And poof! - suddenly I appear! There must be fucked-up English sentence construction afoot!

But first, how is it that this guy doesn't know the name "Han Solo," when his first major TV job--in 1978--owed its existence to 1977's Star Wars? Hell, BSG's creator hired a Star Wars special effects guy! Starbuck is fairly viewed as a Han Solo ripoff!

Such a lack of self-awareness, unless there's some Nordic space epic I'm missing out on.

This is all to say that I'm not surprised that his thoughts have a somewhat-less-than 1:1 correspondence his own life experiences, in his approximately human, actorly life. Ugh! Women, men! Not same! Different! Woman not play Starbuck! Starbuck man! Woman is not man!

And then there's the writing. He uses "thus" instead of "thereby" in his final sentence in that quote. And he gets the syntax all fucked. "And thereby has the world for thousands of years gone 'round." Better, isn't it?

Playa acting does not a playa make.

  2. The first time I heard of HanS Solo was in this awesome animation that accompanied the real description of Star Wars by someone who has never seen it.
